Executive Director USA Basketball foundation
Killjan (pronounced Killian) Anderson began his duties on May 13 as the first executive director of the USA Basketball Foundation, which was created in 2019.
As executive director, Anderson is responsible for all aspects of the USA Basketball Foundation, including developing a holistic strategic plan, generating revenue and evaluating grant opportunities.
He was hired at the USA Basketball Foundation after serving as the executive director of the Pat Tillman Foundation in Chicago since 2014.
Prior to that, he served as the senior enlisted advisor at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from 2012 to 2014. During his 21+ years on active duty, his military career spanned stateside assignments in California, Colorado and Arizona and overseas tours in Korea, Japan and England. He deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom.
Anderson graduated in a bachelor’s degree in Management and Government from the University of Maryland-University College and with an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
He is a Center for Creative Leadership alumni, has presented as the SXSW Conference and currently serves in an advisory board capacity for Arizona State University’s Veteran Sports Law and Business Program, the NFL Player Association’s Professional Athletes Foundation and the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
Anderson and his wife of more than 23 years, Angela, have two children. Avery is completing a graduate degree in education on a football scholarship at the University of Nebraska, and Asia is pursuing degrees in bio-physics and media studies at Scripps College in the Claremont-McKenna Consortium.
